KINVALVE: Your Go-To Manufacturer for Fire-Safe Ball Valves
A fire-safe design ball valve is recommended for chemical processing and refining industries to handle the flammable fluids. As such, fire-safe ball valve manufacturers should ensure tight shutoff during and after the event of a fire.
The anti-static design is also a very important feature of a good fire-safe design ball valve that can prevent ignition.
It ensures that any electricity or sparks generated when opening the valve are quickly directed to the ground through an available electricity channel and effectively out of the pipeline.
This anti-static device is usually installed in a fire-safe ball valve between the ball and valve system or between the valve stem and the valve body.
Anti-static Devices
Generally speaking, Kinvalve fire-safe ball valves are soft seated ball valves or metal seated ball valves with the floating ball to provide reliable shutoff and economical cost at the same time.
At Kinvalve, a quality fire-safe ball valve is usually designed with metal backup seals. The backup seal design is also called the two-stage seal.
In a typical fire-safe ball valve, when the resilient seals are fully burned out or melted during the fire, the metal-to-metal sealing prevents both internal and external leakage.
Fire-safe Design Seats
During the event of a fire, when the soft seats are totally burned out or melted, the floating ball moves forward downstream to contact the finely machined surface of the valve body that matches the counter of the ball to create a metal-to-metal sealing.
This metal-to-metal sealing avoids internal leakage, it will cut the spreading path of the fire in your pipelines.
External leakage presents the other problems, you also need to pay attention to it. The most common external leaking path is from the valve stem. When the thrust washer is burned out, it requires a secondary metal-to-metal sealing arrangement.
Stem Packing Design for Fire-safe Purpose
When the fire-safe ball valves come with a two-piece or three-piece body design, you also need to consider the external leaking path from the body gaskets. You can choose a graphite material as the body gaskets to withstand the high temperature.
Body Gaskets for Fire-safe Design
However, you still need a secondary metal sealing mechanism for the reliable tight. There are double-layer seals including one layer gasket and the other metal to metal contact for the body joints.
A blow proof stem design is also an important feature of a fire-safe design ball valve as it creates the metal-to-metal sealing after the thrust washer is burned out in the fire.
Our fire safe ball valve comes with an optional ISO 5211 mounting pad with an actuator package to make the system automatic so that you can control the flow remotely.
Additionally, an automatic pipeline improves your safety when you don’t have to be very close to the moving medium.
The Kinvalve fire safe ball valve meets the API 607 standards which require ball valves to quickly and effectively inhibit fires fueled by volatile fluids and gases.
Your Kinvalve fire-safe design ball valve comes in a body made of either stainless steel alloy, carbon steel, or other special alloys. They come in various body types and sizes and have been tested to meet the API 598 standard.
