Our cryogenic ball valves can be divided into many categories to meet your multiple needs. Generally speaking, we can provide 2-piece and 3-piece construction ball valves in both forged and cast stainless steel. You also can choose the cryogenic ball valves from the floating ball or trunnion ball design. And the soft seat and metal seats are your options as well.

In order to serve severe industries safely and efficiently, all the cryogenic ball valves should be designed and tested with international standards, such as API 6D, ASME B16.34, BS5351, ISO17292 as well as API598, EN12266 etc. Among these design standards, you can find some common characteristics of cryogenic ball valves.

The most obvious feature you can see is the extended valve stems. This design can help effectively isolate the effects of the cryogenic fluid on the valve stem packing sealing performance as well as the operating mechanism of cryogenic ball valves.


Another function of the extended valve stem design is that the extension can accommodate special insulation materials to reduce the cold energy loss of the medium fluid.

One thing to note is that you can choose a suitable extended stem length based on the temperature of the fluid and on-site installation conditions.

If you carefully observe, you can also find that this extended valve stem is designed as an integral part of the valve body, and welding to the valve body is not allowed.

Another point is that you also need to consider selecting the appropriate wall thickness of the valve stem.

Types of Cryogenic Ball Valves

You can still have other superior characteristics, such as low leakage, Live-loading packing, DBB etc.

Parts of Cryogenic Ball Valves Design

Stem: The stem serves as a system that provides a bridge between the ball and the external system where functions such as external control are executed.

Valve Body: The valve body provides an area where other parts such as the connectors are mounted. Similarly, it should be noted that the valve body is considered the primary part of cryogenic ball valves. Remember, other parts are removable and connected to it.

Rotary Ball:  It allows the passage of liquid/ gaseous media thus significantly helping in controlling the flow of liquid/gases that passes through them.

Seats: They are significant in the general functioning of the valves in that they initiate a seating mechanism of functioning.

Bonnet: This is the topmost part of the cryogenic ball valve. The bonnet therefore protects the internal components of the valve.

How Cryogenic Ball Valves Work

The goal of ball valves is to control the flow of liquids passing through the pipes either by closing or opening the valves. To achieve this, the ball is rotated at various angles.

For instance, it can be rotated 90 degrees away from the direction of flow of liquids thus resulting in closure of valves. Furthermore, they also have seats that aid in exerting pressure thus controlling the sealing mechanism.
