Proven and Dependable Butt Weld Ball Valve
Butt weld ball valve is a ball valve engineered with butt welded end connections. As its name suggests, the valve is butted onto the rim of pipe or fittings.
Butt welded ball valves are usually used where a firm connection is required but not often removed.
At Kinvalve, Butt Weld Ball Valve and Socket Welded Ball Valve are two types of Welded Ball Valves.
Kinvalve BW ball valve is useful in the formation of a tight seal. They are exceptionally reliable and guarantee a complete shutoff.
The 3-piece BW weld ball valve is a full-bore valve that is typically utilized in pipelines. It regulates the flow of fluids via the pipeline by either allowing or preventing flow. It is designed with a quarter-turn rotation.
A typical 3-Piece butt weld ball valve features two butt-welded end connections, and a trim of valve central part. The butt-welded ends are connected to the central trim by bolts and nuts.
Thanks to this unique structure of swing-out body design, you can easily access the internal components of the butt weld ball valves without cutting them off the pipeline to maintain or replace the seats and seals even the whole trim when you need.
Easy Accessing Swing-out Body
And this structural design also allows you to disassemble the trim of the butt welded ball valve during welding installation, so as to avoid the heat generated by welding damaging the valve seats or seals, resulting in leakage.
These valves are suitable for a wide array of industrial applications, including petrochemical, oil, gas, refinery, and semiconductors. They service applications that deal with water, steam, chemicals, solvents, or thermal fluids.
Our butt weld ball valves are versatile and can work in temperatures ranging from -20˚ to 450˚ F. They are subject to rigorous testing standards, including API598 and ISO5208.

What are the features of Kinvalve Butt weld Ball Valves?
Some of the standout features that make Kinvalve Butt weld ball valves popular for welded connections in piping systems include:
Unique Design in Butt Weld Ball Valve
- Anti-blowout stem – This is a critical design feature for ball valves. The stem is placed from the inside of the ball valve body. It prevents the valve from having a blowout due to pressure from inside. This pressure is always pushing the stem up when the valve is either opened or closed.
- Anti-static devices – Even if your application or system is prone to electrical shocks, we incorporate a spring structure into our Butt weld Ball vales that act as an insulator.
- Fire-safe device – With our fire-safe valve design, you are guaranteed that in case of a fire outbreak, fire will not spread to the rest of your system
- Spring Washer – To improve the lifespan of your butt weld ball valves, we include a spring washer that enhances the sealing capacity of the valve.
- Live-loading Stem Packing –This provides you with ability to control valve leakage in areas you cannot access. It provides constant force on the ball valve packing between pressure and thermal cycles.
- Multiple Stem Seals – They deal with sealing problems to provide you a high degree of protection in your butt weld ball
- Customized Stem Packing Types –We provide you with high quality customized stem packing types. They are critical in preventing leakages. There are graphite and PTFE packing types which can be used purely or loaded with a variety of materials including silica and carbon.
- Customized Body Gasket – For you to protect your application from risks of leaking related with thermal cycles and body joint weakness, you need body gaskets. We offer you customized body gasket including PTFE-type body gasket, graphite-type body gasket, dual-material body gasket, and spiral-wound body gasket.
- Self-relieving Seats – They play a significant role in relieving pressure in valves. This pressure arises due a cavity design in ball valves. A medium may get trapped when the valve is closed fully which may cause the medium to expand resulting to an increase in pressure. This pressure may exceed the maximum capacity of your ball This creates a risk of leaks or other disasters.

How are Kinvalve Butt Weld Ball Valves Connected?
Butt weld ball valve involves welding the valve end onto the pipe end. Note that care should be taken to avoid damaging the seats and seal during welding due to high heat levels.
Installation of butt weld ball valves involves the following steps:
- Temporarily weld (Tack-weld) the valve on the pipe in four points on both end caps. Your ball valve should be in open position, extended butt-weld end ball valve allows direct welding.
- For short butt-weld or socket-weld ball valves follow the next Swings out the valve body and secure seats from falling with tape. This involves removing body bolts except a single one which is loosened.
- Next is to complete the welding both end caps on the pipe.
- When cooled, clean all end caps and their body surface.
- Swing the body back to the desired position and replace the bolts. Tighten all nuts slightly. It is critical to ensure that the body and end caps are parallel. This prevents distortion of end caps.
- Tighten the body bolts evenly. You should ensure that maximum tightening torque is observed as per Bolting Torque Data.
- Check the proper operation for the valve.
