Your First Class Anti Static Ball Valve for your Specific Applications

Electrostatic charge is a serious issue in most industrial equipment applications. It happens due to an imbalance of what is commonly referred to as negative and positive charges within or on the surface of an object.

All things and objects are made up of charge. Opposite charges attract or pull towards each other while similar charges pull away from each other. When opposite charges come into contact, static electricity or static charge is instantly produced.

It is the case with your ball valve, which means you need to invest in an anti-static ball valve for your applications. An anti-static ball valve is equipped with anti-static devices as shown below;

Anti-static Devices in Anti-Static Ball Valve

Antic-Static Devices

An anti-static device is made up of a metallic bar and springs and is commonly referred to as electrostatic spring sets.

While in operation, the floating ball valve opens and closes, causing friction between the ball and the soft seat. This friction generates static electricity that builds upon the surface of the ball. The anti-static device installed between the ball and the stem effectively interrupts this static, directing it to the stem.

Once the static charge has been released to the stem from the ball, the anti-static device between the stem and the body interrupts it again and releases it to the valve’s body, where it’s completely discharged.

This helps to ensure no static electricity that can cause a fire is held up or builds upon any part of the ball valve during operation.

As the word, electrostatic suggests, this static charge does not move. It builds upon the surface of the ball until it is redirected for release through a circuit. If not released, built-up static charge can sparkle and light up into a fire when with the flammable medium through the valves.

Suppose the medium being transported in the pipeline is flammable or explosive, for example, gas or fuel. In that case, a fire within the pipeline can cause combustion or an explosion, causing damage to the pipeline and physical harm to those in the area, and eventual Industrial and economic damage.

During the manufacturing of ball valves, Kinvalve is very keen on installing an anti-static device on every one of them. This device acts as a circuit that efficiently releases any static electricity built upon the surface of the ball valve during application.

You can find your ideal anti-static ball valve with a stainless steel body, carbon steel body, or also made with other high-quality special alloys. It is your best choice for handling the shutoff or isolation services and observing safety for you and your workers.

Kinvalve anti-static ball valve will also supply you at an affordable price, in different sizes, bore configurations, and body constructions from a one-piece, two-piece, three-piece, and three-way anti-static ball valve.

Choose Kinvalve Anti-static Ball Valves for All Your Applications

Kinvalve anti-static ball valve has two anti-static devices installed, one between the ball and the stem, and the other between the stem and the valve’s body.

As specified in the API 6D-2014, the Kinvalve anti-static ball valve is installed with an anti-static device that can be tested upon your request for quality and reliability assurance.

This test will be carried out on the anti-static device and will be strictly in line with section H.5 of API 6D standard’s anti-static test.

The test requires that the resistance between the ball and the stem and resistance between the stem and the valve body be tested using DC (Direct Current) power supply that does not exceed 12V.

anti-static-ball-valve-testing

Anti-static Resistance Test

When measuring the resistance, you should do it before the leaking test to keep the ball valves dry and the value of the resistance should not exceed 10 ohms.

For extra safety, your Kinvalve anti-static ball valve also comes with a fire-proof construction to hasten the eradication of accidental pipeline fires.

It also comes with an anti-blowout stem design that helps it perform well under overload medium pressure without the stem flying away.

As an anti-static ball valve, it’s not only used to fight against leakage even it is in the event of a fire, but also it has to act like a normal shutoff device to offer reliable isolation.

As with the other ball valves, Kinvalve’s anti-static ball valves also have unique designs to ensure their isolated performance with bubble tight.

You can customize the anti-static ball valves with an ISO 5211 mounting pad for your actuated service with pneumatic, electric actuators, or worm gearboxes.

And you also can customize the anti-static ball valves as soft seated ball valves or metal seated ball valves.

However, the metal seat ball valves are the natural anti-static ball valves without the anti-static devices because their metal-to-metal seats and ball, and the connected stem form a complete electrostatic discharging path.

In order to make the anti-static ball valves have a wide range of pressure and temperature applications, one-piece, two-piece, and live-loading stem packing designs and multiple O-ring stem seals can be configured according to your needs.

Of course, the material of the seat and packing can be customized is a basic requirement for the Kinvalve anti-static ball valves, regardless your anti-static ball valves are threaded, welded, or flanged end connections.

At Kinvalve, low fugitive emission design is very important to the anti-static ball valves. You not only benefit from the low fugitive emission design seats and stem packing but also get advantages from the body gaskets.

Low fugitive emission design on body gaskets at the body joint(s) in two-piece anti-static ball valves, three-piece anti-static ball valves, and 3-way anti-static ball valves helps reduce the risk of external leakage in these ball valves.

By using different materials and designs, Kinvalve anti-static ball valves can mitigate the leaking risk associated with the body joints and the pressure and temperature fluctuations.

At Kinvalve, the most common gaskets you can find are PTFE and other version modified PTFE. And graphite gaskets, dual material gaskets as well as spiral wound gaskets are also on your request.

At last, there is something very important you should know anti-static ball valves are usually used together with fire-safe ball valves.
